WILLIAM LEVI TRAVIS, born 13 October, 1826, chose to use his middle name, thus went by Levi Travis. He is one of four orphans born in New York City in the 1820's. It is not known why the four children were orphaned, however, since Levi was the youngest, it probably occurred prior to 1830. Also, all available documents show that the children did not know who their parents were. Levi married Mary Matilda Miller in 1846. Children were William Jewett, John Levi, Stephen Gregory Merritt, Mary Georgiena, Norman Whitlock (died in infancy) and Willis Miller. My line from Levi goes through William Jewett > Ralph Messiter > Ambler Ralph. The missing link is Levi's parents.

Susan Travis

Susan Travis was born in New York, probably the Bronx when it was part of Westchester County, in 1825, one of four children of unknown parents. They were orphaned at an early age, and wound up with different families. One brother took the name of the adopted family and his siblings lost track of him. Susan married ThomasW. Eastburn. also shown on this blog.
